The proposed budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year is scheduled to be passed today.
While there are no major changes expected, one significant revision could be the removal of the provision allowing the legalization of undisclosed or “black” money through investment in real estate and building construction.
Additionally, the 5% tax that previously applied to the purchase of gold rings and corneal transplants for the eyes is likely to be withdrawn.
According to sources from the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance and the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the Advisory Council will approve the proposed budget of Tk 7.90 trillion (7,90,000 crore) on Sunday, June 22.
The meeting will take place at the State Guest House Jamuna and will be presided over by Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus.
