Recently, an official in-person meeting between ILO and NSU occurred at the North South University. Mr. Shahriar Iqbal Raj, Assistant Professor and Operation Director of the EHS+ Center at NSU, presided over the meeting. Dr. Mahmud Akhter Shareef, professor and ILO-course coordinator at NSU, was also in attendance.

Representing the ILO, Mr. Ron Johnson, Technical Specialist for Labour Inspection & OSH, and Mr. Md. By integrating NOSHTRI training, these courses will provide a well-rounded education in industrial safety and health management in future”, said Mr. Md Satil Munzoor.

During the meeting, stakeholders reviewed the objectives and implementation strategies for the Comprehensive Certification Course in OSH. The discussions underscored the importance of structured training in fostering a workplace safety culture and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to national and global OSH frameworks by instilling safety awareness among young professionals and industry leaders.

“This collaboration represents a milestone in promoting occupational safety and health education in Bangladesh,” said Mr. Shahriar Iqbal Raj. “By combining NSU’s academic expertise with ILO’s global experience, we are creating a program that not only strengthens industry knowledge but also prepares professionals to implement best practices in workplace safety.”

The course will offer hands-on training, theoretical insights, and professional guidance, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of OSH standards. By aligning industry practices with international safety protocols, this initiative underscores the shared commitment of ILO and NSU EHS+ Center to advancing workplace safety education.
