PSC Releases Revised 50th BCS Syllabus
The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has unveiled the syllabus for the 50th BCS preliminary examination, introducing notable adjustments to the distribution of marks across subjects.
The updated syllabus was posted on the PSC website on Tuesday (December 9).
According to the new structure, the preliminary test will continue to carry a total of 200 marks. Bengali Language and Literature as well as English Language and Literature will now each account for 30 marks. Meanwhile, 25 marks have been allocated for International Affairs and another 25 for Bangladesh Affairs.
The revised distribution also sets 10 marks for Geography (Bangladesh and the World), Environment, and Disaster Management. General Science carries 15 marks, while Computer and Information Technology shares the same weight. Mathematical Reasoning has been raised to 20 marks, and both Mental Ability and Ethics, Values, and Good Governance have been fixed at 15 marks each.
In previous BCS exams, Bengali and English sections had 35 marks each. Bangladesh Affairs was allotted 30 marks, while International Affairs carried 20. Sections such as General Science, ICT, Mathematical Reasoning, and Mental Ability each had 15 marks. Ethics and Geography-related topics were earlier set at 10 marks.

পরিবর্তিত মানবণ্টনে প্রকাশ ৫০তম বিসিএস সিলেবাস
৫০তম বিসিএস প্রিলিমিনারি পরীক্ষার সিলেবাস প্রকাশ করেছে সরকারি কর্ম কমিশন (পিএসসি), যেখানে বিষয়ভিত্তিক নম্বর বণ্টনে বেশ কিছু পরিবর্তন আনা হয়েছে। মঙ্গলবার (৯ ডিসেম্বর) পিএসসির ওয়েবসাইটে নতুন সিলেবাসটি প্রকাশ করা হয়।
সংশোধিত সিলেবাস অনুযায়ী, প্রিলিমিনারি পরীক্ষা আগের মতোই ২০০ নম্বরের হলেও বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের নম্বর নতুনভাবে নির্ধারণ করা হয়েছে। বাংলা ভাষা ও সাহিত্য এবং ইংরেজি ভাষা ও সাহিত্যে থাকবে ৩০ নম্বর করে। বাংলাদেশ বিষয়াবলি ও আন্তর্জাতিক বিষয়াবলির জন্য রাখা হয়েছে ২৫ নম্বর করে।
ভূগোল (বাংলাদেশ ও বিশ্ব), পরিবেশ ও দুর্যোগ ব্যবস্থাপনায় ১০ নম্বর, সাধারণ বিজ্ঞানে ১৫ নম্বর এবং কম্পিউটার ও তথ্যপ্রযুক্তিতেও ১৫ নম্বর বরাদ্দ রয়েছে। গাণিতিক যুক্তির জন্য ২০ নম্বর এবং মানসিক দক্ষতা ও নৈতিকতা—উভয় ক্ষেত্রেই ১৫ নম্বর করে নির্ধারিত হয়েছে।
আগের বিসিএসগুলোতে বাংলা ও ইংরেজি অংশে ৩৫ নম্বর ছিল। বাংলাদেশ বিষয়ে ৩০ নম্বর, আন্তর্জাতিক বিষয়ে ২০ নম্বর এবং বিজ্ঞান, আইসিটি, গাণিতিক যুক্তি ও মানসিক দক্ষতা—প্রতিটি অংশে ১৫ নম্বর বরাদ্দ ছিল। নৈতিকতা এবং ভূগোল-পরিবেশ-দুর্যোগ অংশে ছিল ১০ নম্বর।
