Trump Declares Major Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites

President Donald Trump announced that the United States has carried out a powerful airstrike campaign targeting Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities, including the highly sensitive Fordo site, which he claimed has been "completely and totally obliterated."
In a televised address from the White House flanked by top security officials, Trump warned that Iran must choose peace or face “far greater” consequences in the future.
He described the strikes on Fordo and two other undisclosed nuclear sites as a “spectacular military success.”
The operation has reportedly escalated already rising tensions in the Middle East, drawing the U.S. deeper into the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict.
According to Iranian state media, the Fordo nuclear facility—one of the most fortified and secretive in the country—was indeed “attacked by enemy strikes.” However, officials in Tehran have not yet confirmed the full extent of the damage.
Trump's handling of the crisis has prompted sharp political reactions at home.
Top Democrats on intelligence committees criticized the administration for not briefing them ahead of the military action, while Republicans were informed in advance.
The White House's move is being described as a “seismic moment” by analysts in Washington and Tel Aviv, with experts warning of the potential for prolonged conflict in the region.
A correspondent in Washington noted that the strike reflects Trump’s bold and unilateral approach to foreign policy.
Meanwhile, Iran’s foreign minister earlier warned that any U.S. involvement in the Iran-Israel standoff would be “very, very dangerous,” underscoring the risk of broader regional escalation.
