Ruhul Quddus Kajal Appointed as Bangladesh’s 18th Attorney General
Ruhul Quddus Kajol has been appointed as the new Attorney General of Bangladesh, bringing with him a strong academic and professional legal background.
He completed his LLB (Honours) degree from the University of London in 2005 and later finished Bar Vocational Studies at a university in London in 2006. In the same year, he was called to the Bar from Lincoln’s Inn in the United Kingdom.
The position became vacant after the 17th Attorney General, Md Asaduzzaman, resigned on 27 December last year to contest the 13th national election. Following his resignation, Additional Attorney General Mohammad Arshadur Rouf served as the acting Attorney General.
Md Asaduzzaman had been appointed on 8 August 2024, after the fall of the Awami League government during the July mass uprising.
Contesting the Parliamentary polls, Asaduzzaman has been MP from Jhenaidah 1 constituency and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
