Israel Vows to Protect Interests Amid US-Iran Peace Talk Claims, Netanyahu Says
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has affirmed that Israel will safeguard its strategic interests while the United States and Iran explore potential peace negotiations.
Speaking on Monday, Netanyahu confirmed that military actions against Iran and Hezbollah will continue until a comprehensive agreement is reached, reports The Jerusalem Post.
“We will protect our vital interests under all circumstances,” Netanyahu stated, emphasizing that Israel’s operations against Iran’s missile and nuclear programs, as well as Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, remain ongoing. He added that recent strikes had targeted key figures within Iran’s nuclear sector.
Trump Signals Possibility of Resolution
US President Donald Trump expressed optimism over discussions with Iran, claiming “very good and productive conversations” aimed at ending hostilities in the Middle East.
In a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump said the talks focused on achieving a permanent resolution to the ongoing conflict.
However, Iranian officials quickly denied any direct negotiations with the US, stating there has been no contact, not even through intermediaries.
According to a source cited by the Iranian Fars News Agency, Tehran’s decision to halt dialogue was influenced by US threats to strike energy infrastructure across West Asia.
Ongoing Military Tensions
The conflicting statements underline the fragile and unpredictable state of the Middle East conflict. While Washington projects diplomacy, Israel continues airstrikes against Iranian and Hezbollah positions, raising concerns over further escalation.
Analysts warn that while the prospect of talks offers hope for peace, the lack of confirmed dialogue leaves the situation highly volatile, with both sides maintaining sharply different stances on the path forward.
