
Torrential rain in the early morning has led to waterlogging in several parts of Chattogram city, causing difficulties for office-goers and local residents.
The heavy downpour began around dawn on Wednesday, resulting in water accumulation in various areas of the city.
According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure system has developed over the southwestern region of Bangladesh and nearby areas. The system’s influence extends up to the northern Bay of Bengal. The monsoon winds remain active over Bangladesh and are strong over the Bay of Bengal. As a result, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in Chattogram and other parts of the country from Tuesday through Saturday.
The Chattogram Meteorological Office reported 68.6 millimeters of rain in the 24 hours leading up to 9 am on Wednesday, with 55 millimeters falling in just three hours between 6 am and 9 am.
To tackle waterlogging issues, three organizations are implementing four projects in Chattogram with a combined budget of Tk 14,349 crore.
