Formal charges are set to be submitted on Sunday against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun in connection with crimes against humanity that allegedly took place during July and August, marked by July Uprising.
Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tazul Islam announced the development on Saturday morning at a discussion titled “Ensure Immediate Trial of Enforced Disappearance Perpetrators” held at the National Press Club, marking International Week of the Disappeared.
He stated that the investigation agency of the tribunal submitted its report on May 12.
According to him, an audio recording has been recovered allegedly containing direct instructions from Sheikh Hasina regarding the mass killings.
The forensic analysis of that audio, along with other key evidence, has already been presented in court, he added.
The Chief Prosecutor emphasized that the evidence clearly indicates the massacre was premeditated and directly involved Sheikh Hasina and her close associates.
The International Crimes Tribunal, on 18 February, had directed the probe into allegations against Sheikh Hasina to be finished within 20 April.
