The deadline for submitting applications to register new political parties with the Election Commission (EC) ends today.
Applications can be submitted at the EC office until 5 PM on Sunday (June 22).
On March 10, the Election Commission issued a public notice inviting applications for new party registrations. Initially, the deadline for applications was set for April 20. However, in response to requests from various political parties, the deadline was extended to June 22.
Officials from the EC’s Election Support Branch have stated that around 100 parties have submitted applications so far.
The NCP and a few other parties are expected to submit their applications today.
