A touch of winter is already being felt across Bangladesh as November begins.
While mild cold has arrived in some northern regions, Dhaka is yet to experience the real chill. However, rain two days ago has brought a slight drop in temperature.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, four to seven mild (8–10°C) to moderate (6–8°C) cold waves may sweep across the country this month. In addition, 2 to three of these cold waves could intensify into severe ones (4–6°C) in the northwestern, two northeastern, and central regions.
In its three-month forecast (November–January), the Met Office also predicts that both day and night temperatures will gradually decrease, although they may remain slightly above normal levels.
Furthermore, moderate to dense fog is likely to form from late night to morning over the northern, northwestern, central, and river basin areas, while light to moderate fog may cover other regions.
Due to dense fog, the temperature difference between day and night is expected to narrow, enhancing the overall feeling of cold, the weather office added.
