BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia returned to Bangladesh on Tuesday morning after spending nearly four months in London for medical purposes.
She was accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, Zubaida Rahman and Syeda Shamila Rahman.
Her arrival was facilitated by a special air ambulance arranged by the royal family of Qatar. The aircraft landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka shortly after 10:30 AM. Senior BNP leaders, including the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, were present at the airport to receive her.
From early morning, BNP activists began gathering along the route from the airport to Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence, ‘Firoza’.
Carrying flowers, banners, placards, and portraits of their leader, party members lined the streets and sidewalks to welcome her. Chants and slogans in support of Khaleda Zia echoed along the airport road, turning the entire stretch into a festive scene.
Security was heightened along the route to prevent any untoward incidents due to the large turnout.
Law enforcement agencies were deployed at key points to ensure smooth movement of the motorcade.
After a brief reception at the airport, Khaleda Zia proceeded directly to her residence in Gulshan.
