Dr. Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at AIIMS, Harvard, and Stanford, recently shared what two weeks of daily egg consumption can do for the body. In his November 23 post, he broke down the egg’s strong nutritional profile, noting that both the yolk and the white contribute to its high-quality protein, totaling around 6.5 grams per egg.
He explained that making eggs a daily part of the diet offers several key benefits:
Better Vision: Eggs contain nutrients that help protect the eyes from macular degeneration and cataracts, two common age-related vision issues.
Brain and Liver Support: Their high choline content boosts cognitive function and helps prevent fatty liver, a condition now affecting nearly one in three Indians.
Improved Cholesterol and Blood Sugar: Despite being high in cholesterol, eggs help raise good HDL levels and can stabilize blood sugar, especially when eaten for breakfast, helping maintain steady energy.
For vegetarians or vegans who cannot include eggs, Dr. Sethi suggested tofu as a strong alternative protein source.
