    42nd AGM of Dinajpur Press Club Held

    The 42nd Annual General Meeting of the Dinajpur Press Club was successfully held on February 20 at the club auditorium.

    The meeting commenced at 10 AM and continued until late at night, bringing together journalists, administrative officials, and distinguished guests.

    The session was presided over by the President of Dinajpur Press Club, Swaroop Bakshi Bacchu. The event began with recitations from the Holy Quran and the Bhagavad Gita, followed by a minute of silence in memory of those injured and martyred in the mass uprising of 2024. 

    Tribute was also paid to deceased members, and prayers were offered for the recovery of ailing members.

    Several former Vice Presidents of Dinajpur Press Club, including Abu Bakkar Siddique, Helal Shikdar, Sajedur Rahman Chil, and Shah Alam Shahi, delivered congratulatory speeches, appreciating the club’s progress and contributions.

    General Secretary Golam Nabi Dulal presented the financial report for the period from April 28, 2024, to February 20, 2025. According to the report, total revenue stood at BDT 494,442, sourced from:

    Previous bank balance: BDT 25,387

    Donations: BDT 200,000

    Press conference fees: BDT 68,000

    Sale of old newspapers: BDT 3,250

    Auditorium rent: BDT 91,700

    Personal donations: BDT 90,000

    Membership fees: BDT 15,840

    Bank interest: BDT 265

    On the expenditure side, a total of BDT 482,571 was spent on various operational and administrative costs, including:

    Employee salaries: BDT 198,000

    Electricity bills: BDT 89,967

    Stationery and supplies: BDT 6,500

    Celebration of various occasions: BDT 3,500

    Printing and banners: BDT 2,700

    Municipal tax: BDT 11,656

    Hospitality: BDT 7,500

    Guest entertainment: BDT 6,500

    Press club renovation: BDT 33,835

    Stamp and master roll purchase: BDT 2,700

    IPS purchase and repair: BDT 9,820

    CCTV purchase and maintenance: BDT 8,990

    Travel expenses: BDT 3,125

    General meeting expenses: BDT 90,000

    Water bill: BDT 2,425

    Audit fees: BDT 2,000

    Report preparation: BDT 3,000

    Bank duty tax and charges: BDT 363

    The club reported a remaining balance of BDT 11,971.

    Discussions and Future Initiatives

    During the open discussion session, journalists shared their views on various issues, offering constructive suggestions for the club’s development.

    Discussions revolved around strengthening the press club's resources and enhancing professional opportunities for members.

    Special Guests and Luncheon

    The event was graced by several notable guests, including Nur-e-Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), and Md. Anwar Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime), along with other administrative officials and prominent political figures.

    The meeting concluded with a luncheon for all members and guests, marking a successful and engaging annual general meeting for the Dinajpur Press Club.
