186 Candidates Excluded as 44th BCS Gazette Released
Dhaka, Feb 7, 2026: The official gazette for the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) has been published, excluding 186 candidates who had earlier cleared the final results.
The notification was issued by the Ministry of Public Administration on Thursday (February 5, 2026).
According to the gazette, through the 44th BCS (Special) Examination–2021, 1,490 candidates have been appointed to various entry-level positions in the Bangladesh Civil Service under the National Pay Scale, 2015, with salaries ranging from BDT 22,000 to 53,060, subject to certain conditions.
The key conditions include:
Candidates must undergo basic training at the Bangladesh Public Administration Training Centre or other government-approved training institutes.
After completing basic training, candidates are required to receive professional and specialized training at the department where they will serve.
Candidates must serve a two-year probationary period, which may be extended by the government. During this period, if a candidate is deemed unsuitable for the position, they may be dismissed without explanation and without consulting the Bangladesh Public Service Commission.
Successful completion of the training, departmental exams, and probation will make the candidates eligible for permanent appointment.
The gazette also specifies the allocation of positions across different cadres: 244 as Assistant Commissioners in the Administration cadre, 9 as Assistant Secretaries, 48 as Assistant Police Superintendents, 13 as Assistant Directors/Assistant District Commandants/Battalion Deputy Commanders, 29 as Assistant Chief Accounts Officers, 11 as Assistant Tax Commissioners, 7 as Assistant Registrars, 7 as Traffic Superintendents, 1 as Assistant Director/Information Officer/Research Officer, 6 as Assistant Program Directors, 1 as Assistant News Controller, 18 as Assistant Postmasters General, 6 as Assistant Controllers, 23 as Family Planning Officers, 3 as Assistant Food Controllers, 1 as Assistant Executive Engineer, 18 in the Engineering Department of Bangladesh Railways, among other positions.
Candidates who fail to report to their respective offices by February 9, 2026, will have their appointments canceled immediately.
Last year, the Public Service Commission (PSC) recommended 1,676 candidates for 1,710 posts after publishing the final results on November 11. However, only 1,490 names were included in the latest gazette, leaving 186 candidates excluded.
The 44th BCS results were published in three phases due to issues with repeated cadre allocations: the first on June 30, 2025, the second on November 6, 2025, and the third on November 11, 2025.
Initially, 1,690 candidates were recommended, followed by 1,681 in the second phase (with 9 excluded), and 1,676 in the third phase (with 5 excluded).
