UP Police Encounter Kills One Attacker in Assault on YouTuber Saleem Wastik
One of the men accused of stabbing YouTuber and social media personality Saleem Wastik has been killed in a police encounter in Uttar Pradesh.
The incident took place on Sunday when police exchanged fire with the suspect, identified as Zeeshan, who later died from bullet injuries.
According to police officials, two assailants had entered Wastik’s home in the Loni, Ghaziabad area of Ghaziabad on Friday morning and attacked him with knives.
The attackers targeted his neck and abdomen before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle while wearing helmets to conceal their identities.
Zeeshan, a resident of Amroha, sustained two gunshot wounds during the police operation. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact motive behind the attack.
Following the assault on Wastik, the state administration directed law enforcement agencies to take swift action. Yogi Adityanath ordered police to intensify efforts to arrest the remaining suspects involved in the case.
The police had formed 10 special investigative teams to track the attackers after an FIR was lodged by Wastik’s son, Usman, naming seven individuals in the complaint. Raids were conducted at four different locations, including two sites in Delhi and two in Ghaziabad.
Wastik, who runs two YouTube channels and has appeared on television discussions, describes himself as an “ex-Muslim” and is known for sharing critical opinions about Islam online.
Several individuals and groups have suggested that the attack may be linked to his public identity and statements, though police have not officially confirmed any motive.
The injured YouTuber was first admitted to a local medical facility and later shifted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Hospital sources earlier described his condition as extremely serious.
