Israel-Iran Conflict Escalates as Strikes Turn Deadly

Tensions between Israel and Iran continue to rise, with deadly strikes reported from both countries over the weekend and into Monday.
On Sunday, Israeli forces carried out a major airstrike that reportedly killed the head of Iran’s military intelligence unit. In retaliation, Iran launched a series of drone and missile attacks, injuring more than 10 people in Israel and causing widespread damage.
These latest developments come after Israel launched strikes early Friday targeting Iranian nuclear sites, military positions, and civilian areas. Since then, the conflict has intensified, with ongoing military exchanges and mounting casualties.
Iran’s health ministry announced that at least 224 people have been killed in Israeli attacks since the start of the escalation. Meanwhile, Israeli authorities confirmed that 10 civilians died overnight as a result of Iranian missile strikes.
Despite growing international concern, efforts to mediate appear stalled. U.S. President Donald Trump urged both nations to pursue a diplomatic resolution, stating that negotiations and backchannel talks are underway. However, Iranian officials have firmly rejected any ceasefire discussions while under attack.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear that Israel's objective is not to ease tensions but to prevent Iran from advancing its nuclear capabilities.
With the situation worsening, the global community remains on edge as both nations show no signs of stepping back.
