In a significant escalation, Israel carried out airstrikes on six airports across western, central, and eastern Iran early Monday, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The attacks reportedly damaged key infrastructure including runways, underground hangars, a refueling aircraft, and multiple fighter jets, such as the F-14, F-5, and AH-1, all operated by Iran’s military.
The IDF stated that the operation aimed to reinforce aerial superiority in the region and neutralize aircraft potentially intended for use in future strikes against Israel.
In a coordinated assault, more than 15 Israeli fighter jets also targeted missile storage and launch facilities near Kermanshah in western Iran. These sites were allegedly positioned to launch attacks on Israeli territory, the IDF added.
